Prolific criminal handed 15-month jail sentence for drug offences

NANAIMO — A significant jail sentence was issued to a prolific offender from the Oceanside area for drug offences in Parksville.

Kyle Andrew Thomsen, 28, was recently sentenced to 15-months in jail after he pleaded guilty to a pair of drug trafficking charges.

The offences happended in Parksville in September 2017.

Thomsen was also hit with a mandatory lifetime firearms ban, lifetime DNA order and one year probation.

Thomsen was credited for 414 days in custody prior to being jailed.

His punishment was handed down by Judge Douglas Cowling in Provincial Court in Nanaimo.

Court records showed Thomsen has a preliminary inquiry scheduled for Dec. 10 for a matter under a publication ban.

Thomsen, whose hometown is Cumberland, was previously convicted for drug crimes in the Comox Valley, Nanaimo and Errington.
