A busy week of trading for the Nanaimo Clippers.

They’ve added 6’4 defenseman Will Leneave from Carleton Place of the CCHL in exchange for forward Troy MacTavish.

Leneave had 17 points in 58 games last year, and has already committed to Union College next year.

Clippers Coach Mike Vandekamp has high praise for the 19 year old.

“He’s a smooth skater, good puck mover, will add some offense to our club.  He’s definitely got great feet for a bigger guy.  I know the Union College coaches are very excited about him at that level, and we’re excited about him coming to our team,” said Vandekamp.

Troy MacTavish split last season between Nanaimo and the Junior B Oceanside Generals, he had three goals and two assists in 37 games.

Nanaimo has also acquired forward Vincent Millette from the Montreal Rangers of the QJAAAHL for future considerations.

Millette picked up 46 points in 48 games in 2015-16 with Arctic de St. Leonard in the QJAAHL.

Vandekamp says the right winger has a scoring punch.

“Vincent is a fast explosive skater.  Tenacious and skilled, with a very good shot.”

The Clippers will open the 2016-17 BCHL season September 9th. The BCHL hasn’t released any further details of the league schedule yet.
