Nurse and community advocate vying to be next Nanaimo Mayor

NANAIMO — A former emergency room nurse-turned community advocate says leadership from City Council has been insufficient in dealing with local health and well-being.
Sarah Lovegrove is looking to use her experience in working at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital and elsewhere on Vancouver Island, along with more recent work advocating for policy change, to win election as Nanaimo’s Mayor on Oct. 17.
In a sit-down interview with NanaimoNewsNOW, Lovegrove said she initially planned to run for a City Council position but was asked by multiple groups to run for the Mayor’s job.
