Young leads Canada to double-OT win over Britain at wheelchair basketball worlds
OTTAWA — Arinn Young had a game-high 32 points and added 10 rebounds as the Canadian women’s team finished undefeated in the group stage of the IWBF Wheelchair Basketball World Championships with a 92-91 double-overtime win over Britain on Tuesday.
Young capped her scoring with a free throw to put Canada up 92-88 with seven seconds left in the second overtime in the battle for top spot in Group A. That point proved to be the difference as Britain’s Katie Morrow hit a three-pointer at the buzzer.
Kady Dandeneau contributed a triple-double for Canada (5-0) with 27 points, 16 rebounds and 12 assists.
Robyn Love scored a team-high 23 points for Britain (4-1).
