Repeat Nanaimo flasher charged with two more indecent public acts
NANAIMO — A man well-known to police is one more accused of exposing himself to women in public.
Mark Nieuwejaar, 65, faces two counts of committing an indecent act in a public place after allegedly exposing himself to a pair of women across two separate incidents earlier this month.
Reserve Cst. Gary O’Brien told NanaimoNewsNOW a woman was allegedly flashed around 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 6 while jogging through Maffeo Sutton Park, and her description of the South Asian man helped Mounties link a second incident four days earlier.
“We have two counts, and based on what we know, we think there may be other victims, and they just haven’t come forward yet. We really need to hear from them because we have to get a fulsome picture of what this person is allegedly doing in our community.”
