Log Train Trail rules approved
The Alberni-Clayoquot Regional District board approved an updated agreement with the Province of BC for the management of the Log Train Trail.
The agreement splits the trail into two sections: north of McLeans Mill where motorized vehicles are allowed, and south of the mill where they are not.
Beaufort area director Fred Boyko, who had been critical of improvement designs in the past, told the board he supports the plan.
“Not a lot of fancy stuff, we’re not paving the trail, we’re not putting benches on it and putting signage all over the place and at the same time keeping it simple,” he said. “We’re not going to spend three-quarters of a million dollars replacing all the bridges and all that as that’s not what people want, so let’s make it happen.”
