MP Johns gives PM mixed reviews

Newly re-elected Courtenay-Alberni MP Gord Johns is holding Prime Minister Mark Carney’s feet to the fire, demanding an economic plan to defend Canadians against American tariffs.
Johns, who was elected for a fourth term, says workers and small businesses are especially worried these days.
“We just learned that the Liberals decided that they’re not going to table a budget before the Fall. The Prime Minister promised us action not long delays,” he said. “Canadians need action and they need an economic plan now. Parliament’s most basic function is to authorize and scrutinize spending. We need an economic plan tabled in the House of Commons in June.”
Johns was pleased to see former Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson being named Minister of Housing and Infrastructure.
“The only good news in Cabinet is to see that we have a west coast Housing Minister in Gregor Robertson and I know he’s got close ties with family in our riding,” he said. “I’m hopeful that the new minister will come to our riding to see the opportunities when it comes to non-market, affordable, and accessible housing.”
