Motorcyclist injured in crash near Nanaimo’s Terminal Park

NANAIMO — A motorcyclist was taken to hospital after a midday collision.

Emergency services were called out to the intersection of Terminal Ave. and Princess Royal Ave./St. George St. just before 11:40 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 17 after a motorcycle collided with a silver SUV.

Capt. Matt Burke with Nanaimo Fire Rescue was unable to comment on what led to the crash, but said on scene the rider was conscious as he was loaded into an ambulance.

Burke added the driver of the SUV, who was uninjured, remained on scene and cooperated with police.

The motorcycle sustained substantial damage as a result of the crash.

Emergency services blocked northbound traffic from proceeding through the intersection as they cleaned up the scene.

Vehicles were directed down Princess Royal Ave. and onto Estevan Rd.

Southbound traffic was slowed but largely unaffected.
