District of Lantzville buys two lots near village core

LANTZVILLE — A pair of neighbouring properties purchased by the District of Lantzville are intended for potential development and community use.

In a news release, the District announced the purchase of 7099 Lantzville Rd. And 6852 Wiles Rd., both of which are located south of Jacks Rd.

“These purchases are a part of Council’s 2023-2026 Strategic Priorities, which emphasizes preservation of Lantzville’s natural assets and thoughtful development of property that is forward-thinking and be a lasting legacy for future generations,”stated a District of Lantzville news release.

The 1.7 acre Lantzville Rd. Property was purchased for $922,000, while the two acre Wiles Rd. site was sold for $324,000.

The most recent valuation from BC Assessment showed the assessed value for the lots were $927,000 and $139,000 respectively.

Preserving sensitive green space surrounding Blood’s Creek was referenced by the District as a potential outcome of the land purchases.

The news release noted “additional details” will be made available as development opportunities are considered.

Funding from the land purchases came from the B.C. government administered Growing Communities Fund.
