A 31-year old single mother will be under house arrest after pleading guilty to drug trafficking and possessing explosives.

Alisha Sam was pulled over by police on the Redford Extension in October 2021 and after examining her car they found cocaine, LSD, meth, psilocybin and hydromorphone tablets in the centre console along with 5 celphones, 4 scales, and packaging materials.

Police also found a pipebomb in the vehicle, prompting an improvised explosive device specialist to fly to Port Alberni from the mainland.

As the officer worked remotely to disarm the bomb it exploded, leaving little evidence of the type of explosive matierial it contained.
