Man wanted for multiple alleged offences throughout Vancouver Island

NANAIMO — Police are hoping the public can help track down a man wanted on no less than 16 arrest warrants linked to alleged offences on Vancouver Island.

An Island District RCMP news release states Brett Bystrom, 37, faces multiple charges of possessing counterfeit money, as well as theft and assaulting a peace officer among a host of other charges.

Those arrest warrants originate from RCMP detachments in Port Alberni (five warrants), Nanaimo, Ladysmith, North Cowichan/Duncan, Comox Valley and Ucluelet.

RCMP describe Bystrom as white, 5’9”, 150 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes.

Anybody with information on the whereabouts of Brett James Allan Bystrom is asked to contact their local police or Crime Stoppers at: 1800-222-8477.

Court records show Bystrom has an extensive criminal record dating back to 2012, primarily for property crimes and breaching court-ordered conditions.

Most of his convictions relate to offences in Nanaimo and Ladysmith.
