REVELSTOKE — For just the fourth time since late October, the Oceanside Generals have found themselves on the wrong side of a scoreline.

The Generals fell 7-4 to the PJHL Champion Delta Ice Hawks in their second game of the Cyclone Taylor Cup in Revelstoke on Friday, April 14.

Oceanside got off to a rough start with leading scorer Carter Johnson spending the first two minutes of the game in the penalty box following a warm up violation.

Delta broke the deadline 13 minutes into the period through Carson Merriman’s first of the tournament and the Ice Hawks never looked back.

Goals in the second period to Alec Scouras and Alex Lucchesi extended the lead to 3-0 by the midway point.

Oceanside tried to claw back.

Ethan Hawes made it 3-1 at 13:34 of the second period with his second in as many games, assisted by Dante Paziuk.

Delta restored their three goal advantage two minutes later through Brayden Sinclair.

The Ice Hawks comfortably held a 33-26 advantage in shots on goal after 40 minutes.

Oceanside got a perfect start into the third period with back to back goals.

Tyler Gyori scored around four minutes in on assists from Aidan Cook and Miles Carson to make it 4-2, then Paziuk beat the netminder shortly after on the powerplay to close the gap to within one.

Brendan Carlson and Hawes assisted on the goal.

The flurry of goals continued, however it was Delta regathering some insurance through Carson Hemenway to make it 5-3 at 6:12, then Payton Hu extending the lead further at 7:48.

A period of five goals in around six minutes wrapped as Paziuk scored his second of the game at 10:01 to cut the lead to 6-4.

Delta tallied one final time late in the period and closed out the game.

Ashton Sadauskas stopped 39 of 46 in the loss.

Oceanside’s next game is against the KIJHL Champion Kimberley Dynamiters on Saturday, April 15 at 1 p.m.

The result will determine whether Oceanside play in the gold or bronze medal game scheduled for Sunday, Apr. 16.
