NANAIMO — A first period offensive explosion was enough for the Clippers to beat the Coquitlam Express.

Nanaimo had a 5-0 lead after 20 minutes but didn’t score again until an empty netter in the last minute of the third period.

Coquitlam chipped away with two goals in the second period and one in the third but the Clippers skated away with a 6-3 win.

Kai Daniells and Brody Waters led the attack with three points each and Jeremie Payant tallied twice.

Waters unfortunately didn’t finish the game after blocking a shot late in the second period.

The final shots were 37-27 for the Express with Nanaimo going 1/2 on the man advantage and 4/4 killing penalties.

The Oct. 29 three stars were:

1) Kai Daniells 2) Brody Waters 3) Aidan Campbell

Nanaimo’s offense has been hot lately with 18 goals in the last three games.

With 59 goals scored they are the highest scoring team in the Coastal Division and have the second most goals in the BCHL.

With the victory the Clippers move to 11-2 on the season and will host Cranbrook on Nov. 4 and visit Victoria on Nov. 5.
