CALGARY —Police allege a driver was traveling nearly two-and-a-half times the posted speed limit on the Trans Canada Hwy. west of Calgary.

Mounties say the Porsche was clocked going 270 kilometers an hour in a 110 km/h zone on the evening of Sept. 15, 2022.

At that speed it would have taken nearly 340 meters for the car to come to a full stop once the brakes are applied, according to the RCMP.

“There is no excuse for excessive speeding on our streets and highways. Travelling at rates beyond the posted limit puts you, and those you are sharing the road with, at risk,” Alberta RCMP Traffic Insp. Chris Romancych stated.
