Queen Elizabeth II passes away at Balmoral Castle in Scotland
Queen Elizabeth II, the longest reigning British monarch and one of the longest reigning heads of state in history, has died at the age of 96.
Early Thursday morning, reports from Buckingham Palace indicted the Queen’s doctors were concerned for her health and placed her under medical supervision at Balmoral Castle in Scotland, a large estate house owned by the royal family.
Her immediate family cancelled all public appearances to fly to Scotland to be by her side.
“The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon,” a statement from The Royal Family read. “The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.”
