Funkanometry advance to next round of America’s Got Talent

NANAIMO — A local dance duo have made the cut on America’s Got Talent.

During the Tuesday, Aug. 2 episode, auditions for the competition ended and the judges whittled the 138 acts they said ‘yes’ to down to just 55, which included Island dance sensation Funkanometry.

Nanaimo’s Jacksun Fryer and Duncan’s Carlow Rush make up the duo who regularly go viral through their social media posts, pairing their wildly creative dance moves to popular and classic songs.

Their dance to a medley of Earth, Wind & Fire’s “September” and Rick James’ “Superfreak”, which aired in early June, wow’d the judges then and was enough to secure a spot in the next round.

Being selected for the final 55 means Fryer and Rush will have their future performances voted on by people watching at home.

Voting opens on the show’s website following the next episode on Tuesday, Aug. 9.

Since auditioning on America’s Got Talent, both Fryer and Rush have made the rounds at a host of local events performing live dance routines.
