NANAIMO — Local Mounties took control of a vehicle as part of a hit-and-run in early March in Lantzville in which a couple and their two dogs were injured while out walking.

Nanaimo RCMP stated their investigation into the March 4 incident which occurred on Lorenzen Lane led police to a home in Lantzville where a vehicle was seized for a forensic investigation.

RCMP Cst. Gary O’Brien said the owner of the vehicle was also identified.

“The driver of the vehicle has provided a statement, and at this time no charges have been laid.”

O’Brien told NanaimoNewsNOW investigators are confident someone has more information about this incident.

“Based on where they are with the investigation they know there’s others in the community who have information, and they are choosing not to provide that. We need to speak with them.”

Police stated a woman was hospitalized with significant injuries, while her husband and their two dogs were also hurt.

The couple reported they were walking on the road’s shoulder facing oncoming traffic when the vehicle came from behind, crossed over into their lane and hit the female victim initially.

The force of the vehicle sent the woman into her husband and all four ended up in the ditch.

Both dogs were on a short leash at the time.
