Feb 6, 2022 | 9:27 PM

SOUTH SURREY — The Clippers fought through the fatigue of three games in less than 72 hours to get a point in a 3-2 shootout loss to the Eagles.

Surrey’s Grayden Slipec had the only goal of the first period while Brett Merner’s first as a Clipper was the only tally in the middle frame

Max Itagaki briefly gave Nanaimo a 2-1 lead in the third period until Jake Bongo tied the game on Surrey’s only power play.

The game remained tied through regulation and overtime until the Eagles outscored the Clippers 2-1 in the shootout.

Jed Baliotti stopped 35 of 37 shots he faced while the Clippers fired 31 shots at Surrey netminder Max Prazma.

Nanaimo welcomed back leading scorer Sean Donaldson from his three game suspension and he made an immediate impact with an assist on Itagaki’s marker.

The Clippers went 0/3 on the man advantage and 0/1 on the penalty kill in their road loss.

The Feb. 6 three stars were 1) Primo Self 2) Jake Bongo 3) Ethan Mistry

Nanaimo finished off their three game weekend taking three of a possible six points.

The Clippers next action is a visit to Powell River for a pair of games on Feb. 11 and 12.
