Man airlifted to hospital in serious condition after diving accident in north Nanaimo

NANAIMO — One person was flown to hospital with serious injuries following an accident while diving in shallow north Nanaimo waters.

Crews from BC Ambulance, Nanaimo Fire Rescue and RCMP were called to Waldbank Rd. shortly after 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday, May 19 after the incident.

BC Emergency Health Services confirmed to NanaimoNewsNOW a critical care team arrived by air ambulance and landed on the waterfront near the beach access at the end of Waldbank Rd.

The patient was flown to Vancouver in serious condition.
