Grad Wear program returns to ensure Oceanside students look fabulous

PARKSVILLE — Graduates from Nanoose to Bowser can be fashionable for a prom they’ll never forget.

The Society of Organized Services in the Oceanside Region resumed its Grad Wear program for 2021 after taking the year off in 2020 due to the pandemic.

Coordinator Alice Tulia, stepping into the role for the first time after a decade with SOS, said there’s something for every graduate within SD69 for only $5.

“There’s a variety for graduates to mix-and-match to make them feel great on their achievement from high school,” she told NanaimoNewsNOW. “I’ve poured my soul into this because I love the youth and want them to feel great on their day.”

There’s graduation outfits in a wide range of styles and sizes for all genders, as well as makeup and jewelry.

Tulia said they were overwhelmed with outfit donations this year.

“Some beautiful prom dresses and suits. I’m so grateful the community is supporting youth in our community to ensure they have affordable outfits for their special, memorable day.”

Students can book one hour appointments to browse and try on outfits by calling SOS.

Appointments start March 22, in the second week of spring break, until March 27.

A second week-long availability stretches from May 17 to 22.
