Number of active COVID-19 cases in Arviat, Nunavut, grows by 10
ARVIAT, Nunavut — COVID-19 infections in Arviat grew by 10 overnight to bring the Nunavut community’s active case count to 14.
The community of about 2,800 has been under a strict lockdown since November with schools and non-essential businesses closed and travel restricted.
Arviat also declared a state of emergency on Feb. 24 and brought in a nightly curfew from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Chief public health officer Dr. Michael Patterson is urging Arviat residents to follow public- health orders and to take isolation rules seriously.
