NRGH employee seriously hurt in attack at hospital parking lot
NANAIMO — A woman has serious but non-life threatening injuries after she was assaulted with a two-foot long wooden stick in the Nanaimo Hospital parking lot.
Police say it happened Wednesday, Jan. 27 at around 7:30 p.m. when the 62-year-old victim was getting into her car following her shift at the hospital.
Cst. Gary O’Brien said an 18-year-old woman with apparent psychiatric issues is accused of attempting to steal the victim’s vehicle.
“She struck her repeatedly with this stick causing numerous lacerations to her head, she’s eventually dragged out of the car, then the suspect got into the car but couldn’t start it.”
