Central Island continues dominating COVID-19 case counts, active cases dip across B.C.
NANAIMO — Island Health and B.C. as a whole fared relatively well in the fight against new COVID-19 infection.
Of the 407 new announced across the province, 15 were found within Island Health. This is below average for both areas, though health officials warn the number of new cases being found is still high.
The 15 new cases is significantly lower compared to the recent average in the Island Health region. Cases the week before peaked with 43 on Thursday, Jan. 21.
The number of active cases in Island Health dropped to 195, with roughly 75 per cent of active cases being found in the vast central Island region. Active cases in the most affected region dropped by 11 to 157.
