New cancer centre promised for Nanaimo by BC NDP

NANAIMO — A new cancer centre in Nanaimo is part of a 10-year campaign promise by the BC NDP.

Party leader John Horgan announced a centre would be built in Nanaimo and Kamloops if they’re re-elected in the Oct. 24 provincial election.

“A cancer diagnosis has touched nearly every family,” Horgan said in a release. “Under our plan, British Columbians will receive better care that’s closer to home as they go through their cancer journey.”

The centres are part of a 10-year cancer action plan to hire new clinicians, improve care access to rural families and renovate existing cancer clinics.
