Two new cases reported in Island Health as active cases drop again

NANAIMO — The number of total cases within Island Health has increased again, however less people are currently fighting the novel coronavirus.

According to data from Island Health, two new cases were confirmed in the health authority Wednesday, Sept. 30 for a total of 208 since the start of the pandemic. Three are currently active, down from five on Tuesday.

Of the active cases, one is in the central Island area which includes Nanaimo and Parksville. The remaining cases are on southern Vancouver Island.

Provincially, 125 new cases were announced Wednesday in a statement from the province for a total of 9,138.
