PARKSVILLE — An extensive project is seeing a 40 kilometre stretch of Highway 19 on mid Vancouver Island smoothed.

A Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure (MOTI) statement to NanaimoNewsNOW said the Hwy. 19 right travel lanes in both directions are being resurfaced between Parksville and the Cook Creek interchange near Bowser.

“Work is happening during the day and overnight with minimal impact on essential travel. Drivers can expect single-lane traffic through the work zone.”

Placing a new layer of pavement on the extended stretch of Inland Island Hwy. began in mid-April and is expected to be completed in early June, according to the MOTI.
