NANAIMO — Police are on the hunt and asking for the public’s help finding a man well known to them.

John Wilfred Miller John, 44, is wanted on at least eight warrants.

RCMP Cst. Gary O’Brien told NanaimoNewsNOW many of the warrants are for an early January incident.

“The allegation stems from a situation between him and a female in central Nanaimo where the female was forced into a vehicle and driven a short distance away until she could free herself. She managed to call police. We later tracked down John and arrested him.”

He was subsequently released from custody and investigators can no longer find him.

O’Brien said police are familiar with John and he’s considered violent.

His criminal history stretches back to 2003 and includes assault, possession of stolen property and numerous probation breaches.

He’s white, standing five-foot-four and 155 pounds with short brown hair and hazel eyes.

Anyone who has information on John is urged to call Nanaimo RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
