Bourne gets four in Clippers 7-0 win over Merritt

NANAIMO – The Nanaimo Clippers ended a three game losing streak in style with a 7-0 win over the Merritt Centennials.

Josh Bourne had the first three goals of the game and finished with four goals and an assist.

Devon Mussio, Robby Drazner, and Liam Ryan also tallied for Nanaimo in the game.

Jordan Naylor was solid in net recording a 29 saves shutout.

It was his fourth of the season, tying him for the BCHL lead.

The game was tight in the first period with Bourne getting the only goal on a breakaway.

It wasn’t until the 14:45 mark of the second when he got his third straight goal that the Clippers really took over the game.

The win equalled Nanaimo’s highest offensive output of the season with seven goals, and is the largest margin of victory in any game this year.

The Clippers end the weekend with a record of 23-10-1-2 and a one point lead for first place in the BCHL’s Island Division.

Nanaimo will wrap up the pre-Christmas schedule with a home and home series with the Victoria Grizzlies Dec. 20-21.
