Mid-day Qualicum Beach robbery leaves employees shaken

QUALICUM BEACH -A brazen robbery has left staff at a Qualicum Beach grocer shaken.

The owner of Stop & Shop said a masked man entered the store shortly before 11:30 Wednesday morning.

The owners son, Dongwoo Chang, said the thief demanded cash from the register.

“He just took the money and ran away,” he told NanaimoNewsNOW. “Then my father grabbed his phone and call 9-1-1.”

He said roughly $500 was taken from the register. No one was injured in the ordeal.

The stores video surveillance captured the entire incident on camera.

Chang described the thief as a middle aged white man with a beard and receding hair line.

Oceanside RCMP couldn’t be reached by deadline.
