Edmonton university student unaccounted for in France is Ukrainian citizen
EDMONTON — An Edmonton student missing after a deadly truck attack in France that killed at least 84 people is a Ukrainian citizen.
MacEwan University says Mykhaylo (Misha) Bazelevskyy has permanent resident status in Canada.
It says he travels under a Ukrainian passport, which explains why no Canadians were identified as missing after the attack in the resort city of Nice.
Canada’s ambassador to France had previously tweeted that no Canadian casualties were reported after the truck filled with weapons plowed into a crowd on Bastille Day late Thursday.
