Leneveu new Clippers co-owner and team president

From goalie, to coach, to now owner and team president.

David Leneveu has taken on a leadership role with the Nanaimo Clippers.

The former NHL’er has already built a working relationship with coach Mike Vandekamp and co-owner Ken Wagner.

“I’m really looking forward to working closely with Mike,” said Leneveu. We’ve developed a very good relationship over time.  Ken has been a big supporter of this team and this community.  It has been from a little far away but I know his personal feelings, we’ve sat down and had very long discussions.  He’s a very big supporter.”

As the only local member of the ownership group, a big part of Leneveu’s new job is to engage with fans and the business community.

“It’s not good enough to just say come in and watch a couple games.  No, we want you to be involved in this team, we want you to support this team.  We need their involvement and their emotion.  From the corporate side it’s the same thing, they need to feel that they’ve been engaged and that they’re respected.”

Leneveu is also the team’s new governor and represented the team at the BCHL annual general meeting over the weekend.
