Nanaimo man dies after being hit by car early Sunday morning
NANAIMO — A 38-year-old Nanaimo man has died after he walked onto the Island Highway and was hit by a car.
RCMP Cst. Gary O’Brien said it happened at roughly 1 a.m. on Sunday, March 25 in the northbound lanes of the Island Highway near Oliver Rd.
“The 38-year-old deceased was walking with a female friend and for unknown reasons he walked into the travel portion of the road to retrieve something and was hit by an incoming car.”
O’Brien said alcohol and drugs were ruled out for the driver of the car.
