A look at Tenor Remigio Pereira who altered Canadian anthem at all-star game
TORONTO — Who: Remigio Pereira, member of the Tenors.
Personal: Born in Boston to Portuguese parents, Pereira hails from Gatineau, Que., and is fluent in four languages.
Musical education: His passion for music began in his late teens as a self-taught guitarist in local rock bands. He was accepted into Le Conservatoire du Quebec at 23 for formal vocal and classical guitar studies and was awarded several top prizes and scholarships before graduating with a master’s degree in classical guitar performance. During this time he started singing with professional opera companies.
Career: Pereira is the lone American-born member in the four-man group, which includes Victor Micallef, Clifton Murray and Fraser Walters.
