Snowbirds to deliver stunning show over Nanaimo harbour

Aug 8, 2018 | 1:52 PM

NANAIMO — The skies will be roaring over Nanaimo when the Canadian Forces Snowbirds return to dazzle the masses.

The Snowbirds 431 Squadron takes to the skies over the harbour city on Wednesday, Aug. 8 starting at 5:30 p.m. The show will be centred above and in front of the boat basin near the Bastion. Anywhere along the waterfront will provide a fantastic viewpoint of the roughly 45-minute performance.

The Snowbirds last performed in Nanaimo in 2016, drawing over an estimated 20,000 people to the waterfront.

The show, as with all of their flights, is designed to raise awareness of the C.H.I.L.D Foundation and their goal of curing children with intestinal and liver disorders. While the show is free, the Foundation raises money by selling commemorative shirts and hats in Maffeo Sutton Park and raffle tickets for free flights.
