Aug 2, 2018 | 2:01 PM

NANAIMO — A prolific offender convicted of several property crimes throughout the mid-island is back behind bars after he was busted for allegedly driving a stolen vehicle.

Oceanside RCMP reported Aaron William March, 52, was arrested on the Alberni Hwy. in Parksville Tuesday morning. Police said the vehicle March was driving was stolen the night before in downtown Parksville.

Oceanside Mounties said March was prohibited from driving and also in possession of a controlled substance at the time of his arrest.

March attended court in Nanaimo Wednesday and police said he will be held in custody pending an Aug. 7 court appearance.

He’s charged with possession of stolen property, possession of a controlled substance and driving while prohibited in relation to his Tuesday arrest in Parksville.

In January, March was sentenced to 94-days in jail and given a year probation for a break-and-enter in Nanaimo last June.

Court records showed March was jailed on four previous occasions between 2002 and 2007 for theft and break-and-enter offences in Nanaimo, Parksville, and Qualicum Beach.

The most severe sentence against March was two-years behind bars in 2003 for a break-and-enter in Nanaimo.
