Searing Nanaimo heat wave tracked closely by weather experts
NANAIMO — The mid island region has been baking in what could be a record-breaking stretch of hot weather.
Environment Canada meteorologist Louis Kohanyi told NanaimoNewsNOW it appears we’re in the tail end of a prolonged heat wave.
“Eight days of temperatures above 29 degrees while we’ve had a heat warning in effect, that’s quite significant.”
Kohanyi said Environment Canada could confirm at the end of July if the current heat wave is the longest run of consecutive days in the harbour city above 29 degrees.
