5 arrested in Port Alberni for forcible confinement and assault

Port Alberni RCMP have laid charges against several residents for assault and unlawful confinement.

The arrests were made on Tuesday, Feb. 7 after an investigation in the 4900 block of Angus St, where police say they found a gun and ammunition.

A 44-year-old Port Alberni man was allegedly confined and assaulted over a three-day period in late January and received significant but not life-threatening injuries.

Angela Forsberg, John Vandermeer, Jimmy David McKay, Margaret Emily Fred, and Daniel David Bird, ranging in age from 22 to 56, now face multiple charges including assault causing bodily harm, unlawful confinement and possession of a weapon.
