UPDATE: Suspect photo released in Nanaimo robbery attempt

NANAIMO — Nanaimo RCMP have have released a photo of a suspect accused in an attempted robbery Thursday night.

EARLIER:

An attempted late-night robbery at a pharmacy in Nanaimo.

It happened at 11:20 Thursday evening at the pharmacy at the Shoppers Drug Mart location in Country Club Centre, where Nanaimo RCMP say a man demanded oxycodone and Percocet.

Police say that the suspect passed a note stating he had a gun, however no weapon was produced and he was told that the safe could not be opened due to a time delay.

The suspect then left the store.

The suspect’s race is unknown as his face was shielded by a hoodie pulled tight around his face, according to police.

He’s described as about 5’5 to 5’6 tall, 140-150 pounds and was clean shaven.

Police say the suspect wore aviator style sunglasses, black pants and a black hoodie with white lettering on the back.
