Port Alberni’s Derek Little landed the big fish at this year’s Port Alberni Salmon Derby.
The 45 year old electrical inspector has been fishing in the labour day derby for more than 25 years, and says the event is a family tradition.
“I’m born and raised here. Started fishing with my dad. We didn’t miss very many and then the last few years has been with Heather and my kids. They like it out there,” he said.
Little caught the 24lb. 2oz chinook at the Bamfield Wall on a Skinny G early Monday
