One killed in single-vehicle crash near Nanoose Bay
NANOOSE BAY — One person is dead following a single-vehicle crash.
Emergency services were called to the northbound lanes of Hwy. 19, opposite the rest area, in Nanoose Bay around 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 26 after a vehicle left the roadway and rolled towards the water, coming to rest on the train tracks adjacent to the highway.
Oceanside RCMP have confirmed a 20-year-old woman, one of the passengers in the vehicle, died at the scene, while a second 21-year-old passenger was taken to hospital in critical condition.
The 21-year-old driver was also treated at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital for minor injuries.
