LADYSMITH — A new addition to a beloved sport and recreation area is officially open.

Some of the first riders to take on the new bike park adjacent to Forrest Field showed off their skills on Wednesday, July 29, as the Town officially cut the ribbon for the new facility.

Work completed so far represents just the first phase of the park itself, with expansion expected in future years.

“It’s rewarding to see this project continue to come to life,” Ladysmith Mayor Deena Beeston said in a statement. “The Bike Park adds another unique recreation opportunity for Ladysmith and reflects our commitment to creating public spaces that encourage healthy, active lifestyles.”

The bike park is part of the wider Lot 108 development.

It was designed to support riders of all skill levels and different bike types, with both groomed dirt trails and wooden jumps installed at the site.

The new track complements other development in the area over recent years, including pickleball courts, outdoor fitness equipment, and a walking trail.

A majority of costs for the project were covered from Town reserve funding as well as senior government grants.
