‘Improving what we’ve got:’ future upgrades to Nanaimo park discussed at open house
NANAIMO — The long saga of planned improvements to a park along Nanaimo’s Long Lake took another step towards becoming a reality.
An open house was held at Loudon Park on Thursday, July 23, giving residents a chance to view the latest project designs, ask questions, and provide input on the conceptual plans to expand the beachfront and add other amenities, with a current budget of $11.4M.
Frank Champion has lived in Nanaimo since 1966, and said he likes the upgrade plans, as long as there are still plenty of trees to shade him.
“Improving what we’ve got, and making it better, there’s more generations to come. I’ve been coming for over 50 years, and there’s other people that’ll be coming for longer than that, and I want to see more people coming for longer than me.”
