Early summer heatwave smashes long-standing Nanaimo & Oceanside temperature records
NANAIMO — Multiple daily high-temperature records have fallen across Vancouver Island already this week, with some mid-Island communities eclipsing their previous mark by almost five degrees.
Temperatures in Nanaimo hit 32.2 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, June 23, surpassing the 1992 high point of 31.1.
Qualicum Beach also broke its 1992 record of 27.5 degrees, when it hit 32.2 on Tuesday.
Courtenay and Comox were in unison when they both reached 31.5 degrees, breaking their previous records of 28.9, both set in 1989.
