Nanaimo firefighters save baby ducks from storm drain
NANAIMO β Local firefighters responded to an unconventional rescue call this week.
A passerby was alerted by the worried mother of nine tiny ducklings near Oliver Woods Community Centre on Wednesday, May 20 after the small birds fell into a storm drain, according to a Nanaimo Fire Rescue (NFR) social media post.
βThe crew removed the drain cover and carefully scooped the little ones into a bucket and reunited them with mom, who led her little ones back toward the forest,β the NFR post stated.
NFR noted a crew from its Hammond Bay Rd. hall responded to the call for help.
