Steady donations for ‘home away from home’ beside Nanaimo hospital
NANAIMO — Following last fall’s ground-breaking ceremony with $7 million already in the bank, over $1 million has since materialized for a vital pending amenity.
Construction crews have made significant progress and so have Children’s Health Foundation of Vancouver Island (CHFVI) representatives in raising money for Jesse’s House.
The three-storey, 16-bedroom housing complex will serve as accommodations for families with children being cared for at adjacent Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.
“We’ve had hundreds of donors already step forward; we’ve still got lots of time to get community support,” an elated CHFVI executive director, Veronica Carroll, told NanaimoNewsNOW.
