Foreign national arrested in Surrey, B.C., over shooting linked to extortion
SURREY — A foreign national with no status in Canada has been arrested in Surrey, B.C., over a shooting last month that’s believed to be linked to extortion.
Surrey police say the Canada Border Services Agency has been told about the arrest of 27-year-old Jaskaran Saroye.
Saroye has been charged with reckless discharging of a firearm and remains in police custody, with a court date next Tuesday.
The shooting happened early on April 13, when police responded to a report of shots fired at a home near 94A Avenue and 127 Street in Surrey.
