Nanaimo senior taken to hospital after being hit and dragged by pickup truck
NANAIMO — A woman in her late 60s was taken to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a pickup truck.
Emergency first responders attended the incident on Applecross near Portsmouth roads on Wednesday, Feb. 11 just after 5:30 p.m. when the driver of a 2015 Chevy Silverado pickup collided with the woman as the vehicle exited an apartment building parking lot.
Nanaimo RCMP Res. Cst. Gary O’Brien said they’re still determining how the incident unfolded.
“The driver was coming out of a parking lot and the victim, for unknown reasons, was trapped underneath the vehicle and dragged a short distance. The driver stopped and called 911.”
