Clippers start preseason with pair of home ice wins
NANAIMO — The Nanaimo Clippers had a dominant first weekend of preseason games at home against Victoria and Powell River.
Nanaimo won 5-2 over the Grizzlies and 8-1 versus the Kings on Friday, Sept. 5 and Saturday, Sept. 6 respectively, outshooting their opponents by a combined 98-51 margin.
Clippers coach Colin Birkas was pleased with the team’s effort to start exhibition play.
“The things we worked on continued to be good for us. It was our plan to play everybody and not get sucked into wins and losses this time of year. The idea was to give everybody the minutes.”
