NANAIMO — Police on Vancouver Island and in B.C.’s interior are searching for a man wanted on a number of outstanding criminal charges.

Thirty-one year-old Ronald Douglas Arndt is wanted on new charges of robbery and assault causing bodily harm stemming from a July 18, 2024 incident in Kamloops.

Two other people were also charged, appeared in court earlier this week and remain in police custody, however Arndt missed his court date prompting a warrant to be issued for his arrest.

Police in the Interior believe Arndt may be either in Kamloops, or Nanaimo where he has a prior history.

In July 2023, Arndt was charged and later found guilty on a number of firearms charges, including possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose.

Arndt was arrested in the mid-morning on Cavan St. after someone spotted him with a handgun while in a vehicle with several others inside.

“All the individuals were removed and what we found was a flare gun that had been converted to fire .22 round bullets. Very troubling. That was seized, that individual who’s well known to us was taken into custody.”

He was ultimately sentenced to a 10 year firearms prohibition.

Arndt’s criminal record dates back to 2013 with charges of theft, assault causing bodily harm and multiple breaches of court orders and failures to appear.

He’s described by Kamloops Mounties as 5’9″ tall, 187 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes, a medium build and a tattoo on his neck.

Anyone with information on Arndt’s whereabouts is asked to contact Nanaimo RCMP at 250 754 2345.
