Property tax deadline nears for mid-Islanders
NANAIMO — Annual property taxes need to be paid by the end of the day, or you’ll pay more.
All-mid-Island municipalities and rural areas from Ladysmith to Qualicum Beach face a Thursday, July 2 property tax deadline, with varying fines applying for non-compliance, depending on location.
Nanaimo property taxes hiked by 6.4 per cent for this year, equating to nearly $200 more for an average property valued at about $800,000, impacting more than 49,000 properties.
Homeowners must claim their Home Owner’s Grant prior to midnight in order to claim applicable discounts for this tax year.
